Units are placed on that board that have health and are able to cast abilities. Units include Beings and Structures.
Beings are Anima and Tamers. These units can only be placed into play from your Hand to your Outpost (unless a passive ability states otherwise). They come into play 'tapped' and cannot cast abilities or mobilize on the same turn they are played. Mana is required to be tapped from your Mana Pool to place Beings and other units into play.
An Anima is one of two types of Beings. An Anima is placed into play by tapping Mana equal to its Placement Cost. The Anima is place on the Outpost row. Only 1st Manifest Anima that do not depict another Anima that it Manifests from on the left side of the card can be placed this way. Higher Manifest Anima are placed on top of the compatible Anima of the previous Manifestation, as described below.
A Tamer is the other type of Being. Like Anima, they have Stats, a Placement Cost, and Abilities. Structures (aside from the Castle) must be placed adjacent to an existing Tamer.
Beings are mobile units that can move from tile to tile. A Mobility of 1 is required to move to one adjacent tile. Diagonal movement requires 2 mobility since it's equivalent to moving 2 adjacent tiles. Units placed during the current turn aren't mobile until the next turn. Stun and Freeze prevent units from moving.
Beings have Dexterity, which determines the which Equipment can be equipped.
An Anima is capable of manifesting into a stronger form. To do so, the Player must have the next Manifestation in their Hand and its previous Manifest in play. It is placed directly on top of the previous Manifest by tapping the appropriate Mana in the Mana Pool equivalent to the Mana Cost on the card. This Being can move and attack on the same turn it was played, unlike Beings brought into play on the Outpost row. Abilities of the previous Manifest are not inherited by the Manifestation.
Structures are immobile units that can be placed on the board and cannot be moved once they are placed. They block the mobility of other units (mobile units must go around Structures in play). There are 3 types of Structures: Castles, Buildings and Towers. Your Castle exists in the Outpost, Buildings are placed on the Auxiliary, and Towers can be placed on the Frontline.
To place a Structure into play, specifically Buildings and Towers, an untapped allied Tamer must be present on an adjacent Tile. That Tamer card gets tapped on the turn the Structure is built and can no longer Attack or Mobilize. The necessary Mana equal to the Structure's placement cost must be tapped.</p>
At the start of the game, each player places their Castle card into play onto the center of their Outpost. The primary goal of the game is to destroy your opponent's castle since that it the victory condition.
Towers are offensive structures that have high Health values and several abilities. Towers are used to cast abilities against nearby enemies. They are place offensively to help advance the position of allied units. Towers must be placed on the Frontline.
Buildings provide utility since they often contain Passive abilities or Upgrades that strengthen units in play. Buildings must be placed on the Auxillary.
